Storage Hunters star Sean Kelly has admitted that the US version of auction reality series may not return for Season 4, though he hasn’t ruled out hope.
He told Digital Spy:
“The last time we got done filming was August 2013 and it hasn’t been picked up in the US. Not because the show wasn’t doing well, but TruTV got a new president, and they decided that if they have two shows of a certain genre, they would let one of them go.
‘They had Storage Hunters and they had Container Wars, which was a spin-off from Storage Hunters. It was what we did in one of our second season episodes, I did an auction down at the shipping ports with the shipping containers and the network liked it so much they decided to make a show just about that.
So, when the new president came in, he took a look at the two different shows and, compared to what was on other networks, he felt Container Wars was different enough and that we were too much like Storage Wars and Auction Hunters. So he let us go.”
That said, Kelly reveals that the series could still return for Season 4 if the upcoming reruns do well:
“From what I understand in the US, the catalogue has been purchased by Reelz, and they’re gonna start airing us in January,” he explained. “If they do well, they’re gonna start making new episodes.”
