Science of Stupid Season 3

NAT GEO MUNDO UNVEILS EXCITING 2017-2018 UPFRONT SLATE

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: New and Returning Series, Stunning Wildlife Specials and an Expanded Lineup of Original Programming to Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month

Renewed Series:

Science of Stupid
20×30, January 2018
With the help of science experts, Poncho explains exactly how and why adventure turns to misadventure in hundreds of videos found on the internet. Mexican crossover actor and hunk Alfonso “Poncho” Herrera, returns in the third season of this fun and successful series.

(NEW YORK) Entering its sixth year, Nat Geo Mundo unveils an exciting slate of programming, including new and returning series, stunning wildlife specials and an expanded lineup of Spanish-language originals to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month. The announcement was made in advance of National Geographic’s upfront presentation in the Apple Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.

“We’ve experienced continued growth and success since our launch in early 2011,” said National Geographic Global Networks CEO Courteney Monroe. “Each year, Nat Geo Mundo builds on its commitment to Latino audiences, offering premium content that is bold, distinctive and relevant to the U.S. Hispanic market. And this year will be no different.”

The new upfront slate features an increased emphasis on National Hispanic Heritage Month. Throughout September and October, the network will air Spanish-language original series and specials. Mexican personality Alex Syntek returns for an all-new round of Brain Games-style fun with episodes of AsombrosaMente. National Geographic Explorers Fabio Amador and Andres Ruzo team up with top Mexican archaeologists to explore ancestral sites in Mexico in Secrets of the Underworld and the feature documentary Those on the Other Side examines the cultural divide between San Diego and Tijuana.

Nat Geo Mundo will also simulcast some of National Geographic’s highest-profile series, including the recently announced scripted war drama The Long Road Home, starring Kate Bosworth, Jason Ritter and Jeremy Sisto. The network will also broadcast season two of the popular sci-fi series MARS in addition to One Strange Rock, the mind-bending thrilling journey from filmmaker Darren Aronofsky.

Building on the legacy of National Geographic’s iconic brand, Nat Geo Mundo features some of the biggest, baddest and most ferocious natural history specials: discover rare shark-feeding events, search for elusive predators, and witness mighty factions of lions, leopards, wild dogs and hyenas battle it out for power. One thing is for sure: There. Will. Be. Blood.

Naachtun is the last city of the Mayan golden age. We know little about it, and archaeologists have only begun excavations a few years ago. Using ambitious resources — including 4K HD cameras, drones and cutting-edge graphics — researchers are trying to understand how the site could have survived for almost 200 years after the collapse of the Mayan civilization elsewhere and are hoping to shed new light on the history of this people.

Las Escaramuzas, Queens of the Mexican Rodeo

In Mexico, women are becoming rodeo stars in a discipline that’s always been reserved for men: charreria. In teams of eight riders, all side-saddled on specially designed seats, these women display incredible precision, finesse and elegance in several-minutes-long synchronized shows. This discipline is called the escaramuza, a unique competition recognized by the International Charreria Federation in the 1960s. This documentary film will take us into the daily lives of the two best teams.
