Julia Stiles plunges beneath the glamorous sheen of the Côte d’Azur elite in new Riviera teaser trailer
A new teaser trailer out today sees Julia Stiles taking centre stage as the show’s powerful lead character Georgina Clios, from the new Sky Original Production Riviera. Today it is also announced that all episodes will be available from 15 June in the UK exclusively, on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
Styled in gold floor-length couture and submerged in an eerily still body of water, Julia brings the show’s complex and captivating heroine to life as she plunges beneath the shimmering surface of the Côte d’Azur, when the trailer airs tonight during Big Little Lies. The world of Riviera is one of high fashion and high stakes where the shocking secrets of the super-rich hide in plain sight.
Julia Stiles commented: “I think ‘a sunny place for shady people’ is a great way to describe this show. While this world is seemingly very glamorous, opulent and beautiful, all is not what it seems and that is echoed in our main characters.”
Set against an awe-inspiring backdrop, the show is part compelling family drama, part high-octane crime series, giving viewers a first-class ticket to the opulent French Riviera. Created by Oscar®-winning writer and director Neil Jordan (The Borgias), Riviera is based on an idea by former U2 man-ager Paul McGuinness, with the first two episodes co-written by Booker Prize-winning author John Banville (The Sea).
Julia Stiles (the Bourne series) plays Georgina Clios, the smart and resourceful second wife of Constantine Clios who dies in mysterious circumstances in a yacht explosion in the opening episode. Georgina slowly begins a journey from light to dark as she discovers how little she knew about the man she loved and the world he lived in.
The cast of this glamourous 10-part Sky Original Production also includes Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones), Adrian Lester (Hustle), Anthony LaPaglia (Without a Trace) and Phil Davis (Poldark).
Available for Sky’s 22 million customers to enjoy, Riviera will be shown in 2017 exclusively on Sky Atlantic and online streaming service, NOW TV in the UK and on Sky Atlantic in Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria. Co-produced by the Altice Group, the show will also air in France on a premium pay TV linear channel to be launched this summer.
Riviera joins a host of Sky Original Productions airing on Sky Atlantic in 2017 including Guerrilla and Tin Star, as well as returning series such as Fortitude and Gomorrah. Sky Q customers will also be able to watch Riviera in Ultra HD, with up to four times the definition of HD.
Will Riviera sink without trace or can the binge-release strategy succeed for a second season in 2018? Stay tuned…
