September 15, 2015 – Comedy Central renews The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore for Season 2. The new season will run from January 2016 through the end of the year.
August 19, 2015 – Encouraging news for The Nightly Show Season 2 prospects – Larry Wilmore says Comedy Central have been “very supportive” and view the show as a “long-term project”.

Sorry, Larry just lost it at the Washington Media Dinner…I can’t see him in the same light anymore…time will tell if he comes back from this comedy bump in the road…the black v white thing was a little to much for me too.

I loved Larry on the Daily show but he can’t/not ready for his own show, he pick and chooses clips then edits them our of context
Then he completely adds to the white vs. black atmosphere of the country
There is so much unnecessary (horrible) conflict, why add more?
But maybe it’s not completely his fault, he DID have to replace Colbart which was probably one of my favorite shows

Goodness, this show is a disaster. I say that having given it many, many chances. Defenders of Wilmore’s say that he needs more time, that Colbert had growing pains of his own. However, Colbert’s growing pains were few and far between. Wilmore’s is on a nightly basis for the several months he’s helmed the show. Nice try, Wilmore. I say cancel it. Although, I’ve been saying the same about @midnight. So I doubt it will happen. Just like my desire for Wil Wheaton to go away. Unlikely.

The Nightly show with Larry Wilmore should be renamed The Nightly Horror show. I just don’t care to listen about black problems and this show should be cancelled instead of being moved in it’s time slot. If they really want to do us all a favor, the new time slot should be 4 a.m.

I love TNS; it’s finding its way, and I’ll assume that any angst about the production comes from seeing and hearing from a black male host and other people who aren’t usually featured on late night screens, participating in discussions that are important and fun (and, in my opinion, too short), which isn’t all that different from TDS. Grow up, America.

This show is beyond garbage and does not deserve to go near colbert’s timeslot.
Before getting into the problems with the host or the content, the decision to have it framed as a panel show- where people who have worthwhile credentials are forced to talk over uninformed comedians, writers and random people- was and continues to be a terrible choice. If you want to hear a circlejerk, this show is for you. Often their guest with credentials is drowned out by larry’s stupid cronies who don’t really bring anything to the table but are for whatever reason given the same amount of time as the guest.
The host is another problem with the show. Larry was great on the daily show, but falls flat on his own show. One of the key things about the colbert report and the daily show was that the host played “the normal man” and had a cast of other characters who played off of him. On this, every single person on the show is “the normal man”- there’s no comedic framing and most of the bits he puts together just miss the mark because of it.
Finally, the content of the show is fucking garbage. The channel has always been left leaning, but this is the first show that really goes full bill maher in the way that it shoves it down your throat. Most of the bits are outright race-baiting and just hammering at some liberal tag line over and over. There is no critical thought, there is no moderation, it’s insufferable how much less context and intelligence this show provides than its predecessors.
We don’t need to grow up, it’s not about race, it’s about the fact that the show has nothing to offer and panders to special snowflakes at the expense of everyone else.

I love the nightly show. But then again I’m an African-American woman. Seeing as how blacks are only 13.2 percent of the population, I think we’d all have to really love this show in order for it to stay on the air. Diversity in late night American television is not real profitable and if it pisses off white people to boot, then what could possibly be the point of continuing to air it?

this show is so awful, a few funny moments buried in race baiting and what larry thinks the real black man would think is funny. I go out of my way to change the channel even before i turn the receiver off no ratings for this race baiting pretend black man. Love this show and glad it’s being renewed. Who cares if it’s centered on ‘black problems’? I say it’s refreshing to get another perspective. 1/10 people in the US is black, and even more in Southern states. ‘Black issues’ are American issues. Anyways, he covers breaking news just as often, if not more. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. I however, plan on watching it as long as it’s on the air.

Watched this show many times. Turned it off almost as much. I actually do enjoy Trevor Noah on TDS. But it makes me cringe watching Larry drop multiple “brothas,” “aights,” hand gestures, etc. nearly every show. Its no coincidence that his black on air contributors are very darkskinned. A “weak tea” attempt to manufacture his own blackness. CC needs to “keep it a hunded” and pull the plug.
