ABC has cancelled Mistresses after four seasons, RenewCancelTV has learned.
The axe falls on Mistresses in the wake of optimistic EP Rina Mimoun pitching Season 5, which ultimately wasn’t enough to secure what would have been the soapy drama’s wrap-up season.
Mimoun said earlier this week:
“[With Season 4], they didn’t tell us to make a series finale. [We’re in the process of trying to pitch the network on the idea of] a final fling [of 13 episodes to air in 2017]. We really feel like there’s one more year of story to tell, but we’re also looking for a graceful way to wrap up the series. There’d be some new hot messes in the mix, and we’d be moving back toward the kind of racy romp that Mistresses was when it began.”
Instead, Mistresses enters the cancellation graveyard on an unresolved cliffhanger.
