Following the success of Countryfile Spring Diaries, BBC Daytime has recommissioned the series for Summer, Autumn and Winter on BBC One.
The summer series will be hosted by the Spring presenting line-up of John Craven, Jules Hudson, Keeley Donovan, Paul Martin and Margherita Taylor.
This summer episodes will feature:
How we can revive our wildflower meadows when one in five wild flowers are edging towards extinction
Lincolnshire farmers harvesting a British staple that has to be picked and packed in 150 minutes
On the coast, summertime kick-starts a seasonal invasion. An army of spider crabs advance towards the shallows. Countryfile Summer Diaries will be discovering why 50,000 of them head to the Dorset coast in summer.
In the Gower, the programme will be investigating how changing our shower gel can help save our seas and protect our marine life.
The show will also catch up with Paul Martin on his smallholding in Wiltshire.
Dan McGolpin, Controller for Daytime and Early-Peak says: “Countryfile Spring Diaries brought us some wonderful scenes and insightful journalism at a key point of the year for rural communities. We are now extending the series to all four seasons, with five new programmes for each of Summer, Autumn and Winter to be scheduled across weekday mornings on BBC One. I look forward to many more topical and relevant stories from our exciting team of presenters.”Presenter Margherita Taylor says: “Countryfile Spring Diaries brought us a real insight into how the countryside changes with the seasons and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into the summer series. One of my favourite things about summer is the great flowers that appear so I’ll be looking at the rise in seasonal British cut flowers as well as the elderflower harvest and the invasion of the spider crabs out on the Dorset coast, so it’s set to be a show of huge variety.”
