Z Nation is spreading. Netflix has given an eight-episode first-season order to Black Summer, a spinoff of the popular Syfy drama, THR reveals:
The streaming giant has handed out an eight-episode straight-to-series order for drama Black Summer, a spinoff of the Syfy drama for which it has streaming rights.
Black Summer stars Jaime King (Hart of Dixie) as a mother who is torn from her daughter and embarks upon a harrowing journey, stopping at nothing to find her. Thrust alongside a small group of American refugees, she must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the most-deadly summer of a zombie apocalypse.
Z Nation is currently renewed through Season 5 on Syfy, to premiere fall 2018.
Black Summer ensures the Z Nation franchise lives into 2019 at the very least.
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the cancel/renew status of Z Nation Season 6, and the survival status of Black Summer…

Great. Good news, after just finding out that Colony has been cancelled with no decent ending. Sci Fi is my baby, comedy is 2nd, and they continually screw with me by dropping the shows without any proper ending or not giving it enough episodes to truly have closure.
