When will Jimmy become Saul Goodman?
Series creator Vince Gilligan has confirmed plans for Better Call Saul Season 4, which will see the series get closer the origin story Breaking Bad, however, he doesn’t want the show to outstay its welcome, suggesting that the end could soon be in sight, per Variety:
“The trick is, business-wise, we want as many episodes we can reasonably get out of the story, but with the big caveat that we don’t want to overstay our welcome,” concedes Gilligan. “We didn’t want that with ‘Breaking Bad,’ and we don’t want that with ‘Better Call Saul.’ With season three, we’re certainly closer to Jimmy becoming Saul Goodman than we’ve ever been. And with more ‘Breaking Bad’ storylines making an appearance in the show, the closer still he’ll get.”
Will Season 4 be the end of Better Call Saul? Gilligan isn’t sure, but says he’ll be involved in the final season, whether that’s Season 4, 5 or 6:
“Stepping away has been kind of tough on me,” he says. “The plan is for me to come back as soon as I’m done [with the HBO series], at least for the final season.”
In the meantime, the show’s end game moves ever closer:
“With every step, every episode, every actor, we move toward an end game.”
Could Better Call Saul go beyond Breaking Bad? Gilligan ponders:
“The story doesn’t necessarily end with Jimmy becoming Saul Goodman,” teases Gilligan. “It’s interesting to ponder what life is like past the end of ‘Breaking Bad.’ ”
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the cancel/renew status of Better Call Saul and the show’s overall end date…
