Tyrant Season 4 has been cancelled by FX, but EP Howard Gordon is hoping to continue to political thriller elsewhere, noting that streaming services like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon would be the “most likely option” for a revival. Per Deadline:
Of course I think there is more [Tyrant story] there. But we also knew this season was a make-or-break year so in fairness we were trying to serve two masters by making tonight’s show a series ender and something at the same time that wouldn’t foreclose on the future. That’s always a tricky thing, but I think we did a good job on that.
Part of the challenge of this season finale is that Chris and I wanted to write something that should this be the end it, would be a satisfying end. But, at the same time, we wanted to leave the door open for the possibility of telling the story more. Because we really do think there is more story to tell.
On the prospect of Tyrant Season 4 continuing elsewhere, Gordon targets the streaming outlets
GORDON: That’s above or out of my pay grade, but we’ve talked about a couple of places. I don’t know how realistic any of them are. We’ve just begun those conversations now so you know I’ll know more in the next few weeks. Right now, honestly, I don’t know.
Hulu, Amazon or Netflix would be terrific places for the show. That’s probably the most likely option if there is another chance.
Tyrant Season 4 on Netflix, Hulu or Amazon? Stay tuned as we monitor the cancellation graveyard for signs of a Tyrant revival…
