Scottish comedy Two Doors Down will return for a second series on BBC Two, following the success of the current debut series.
Starring Arabella Weir, Alex Norton, Elaine C Smith, Doon Mackichan, Sharon Rooney, Jonathan Watson, Jamie Quinn and Harki Bhambra, Two Doors Down explores the best and worst of family life, following three sets of neighbours and the trials and tribulations of living on a suburban street with people you’d often much rather do without.
Series one has been critically acclaimed, described as ‘a gem’ and ‘genuinely hilarious’ by reviewers.
Written by Gregor Sharp and Simon Carlyle,Two Doors Down is a BBC Comedy in-house production through BBC Scotland, recommissioned by Shane Allen, Controller, Comedy Commissioning for another 6×30 series.
Filming is set to get underway in Scotland from mid-August for six weeks and will, once again, film on location in Glasgow and at BBC Scotland’s Dumbarton Studios – home to Scottish soap River City and BBC One drama Rillington Place.
Shane Allen says: “The first series has been so well received, and we’re proud to welcome this gem back again. It’s beautifully written with the cream of Scottish comedy talent on board, and audiences across the UK have taken it to their hearts.”
The second series of Two Doors Down will be executive produced by Steven Canny for BBC Comedy Production with Catherine Gosling Fuller returning as producer and Sasha Ransome directing.
Steven Canny is thrilled viewers will once again meet the residents of Latimer Crescent: “I couldn’t be more delighted that we’ll be revisiting these glorious characters later in the year. The terrific, inventive, funny writing is delivered perfectly by this wonderful cast. I can’t wait to see what horrors befall them.”
Two Doors Down highlights BBC Scotland’s commitment to producing distinctive and reflective Scottish output, complementing productions including Shetland (BBC One), One Of Us (BBC One), River City (BBC One Scotland), Sunset Song, Katie Morag (CBeebies) and new landmark series Highlands (BBC One).
