Showtime has covered its bases should the Twin Peaks revival crash and burn upon its May 21 release.
President David Nevins says the 18-episode return is designed to be a “close-ended one-time event,” which would close the Lodge door on a potential fourth season.
From a PR standpoint, Nevins’ statement also ‘protects’ the network from having to re-cancel the cult-favorite series in the event of it being poorly received.

Of course, should Twin Peaks perform well in the key metrics, it will likely be renewed for Season 4. Stay tuned…
