The Tudors, Debuting August 27, to Serve as a Precursor to Another Epic Costume Drama Premiering on Ovation in October, ‘Versailles’
Santa Monica, CA – Ovation TV, America’s premier network for arts and cultural programming, has acquired distribution rights to all four seasons of The Tudors (38 x 60’) from CBS Television Distribution and SHOWTIME®. The Tudors will air on Ovation TV beginning August 27, 2016 at 10pm ET / 7pm PT.
A chronicle of the early years in the reign of England’s King Henry VIII from 1520 to 1530, when he divorced his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, the series stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers (2016’s Roots mini-series), Henry Cavill (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Sarah Bolger (Agent Carter, Into the Badlands) and Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones). The series originally aired on the Showtime network from 2007-2010.
“With the upcoming Ovation TV premiere of Versailles, we wanted to program another smart, sexy series to whet everyone’s appetite for binge-worthy costume drama and The Tudors fits the bill,” said Scott Woodward, EVP of Programming and Production, Ovation. “This series is another fantastic example of artful storytelling, coupled with exquisite production values, costume and set design and outstanding performances. Fans of this series can relive all the grandeur and drama again on Ovation TV, and then discover a whole new TV obsession when Versailles premieres on October 1.”
