Top Gear has hit a bump in the road to renewal with news that executive producer Lisa Clark is to leave the rebooted series ahead of its Season 23 relaunch, Broadcast reports.
Series editor Alex Renton will oversee the show until Clark is replaced.
Said Clark:
“After an extremely busy five months I am moving on from Top Gear to new projects which I will be announcing in the new year. I’d like to wish production all the very best with the show.”
A BBC spokesperson added:
“We’d like to thank Lisa for all her incredible work over the last five months readying new Top Gear for its busy filming schedule in 2016 and planned return in May.”
While Clark’s departure doesn’t have to be fatal to the show’s long-term survival prospects, it’s certainly not ideal and has the Reaper on Cancellation Watch.
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the status of Top Gear…
