Mulder and Scully are heading to Channel 5.
We’re excited to announce the return of the award-winning series, which returns as a thrilling, special six-episode series event in early 2016. The X-Files will be executive produced by series creator Chris Carter, with original cast David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning to their roles as iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
The event series marks the momentous return of the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning drama, thirteen years after the original run. The X-Files remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history.
The X-Files originally premiered in September 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Scully (Anderson) and Mulder (Duchovny) as they investigate unexplained cases – “X-Files” – for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.
Other returning characters include Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis, playing Walter Skinner and The Smoking Man respectively.
The series will air early in 2016 on Channel 5.
