Series creator Chris Carter has hinted at the possibility of future revivals of The X-Files without the central duo played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, although “right now, when they want to do it, I think it’s David and Gillian,” he told THR.

With The X-Files Season 11 to become a reality if the upcoming 10th season revival performs well in the ratings, Carter also suggested that the future episode order could increase from the very limited 6 episodes, to the not as tightly wound 13 or 15 episodes.

However, he noted that it “really would be indicated by the actors and their schedules.”
