Lionsgate has extended Wendy Williams’ contract by seven years to 2022 but her show itself has not yet been renewed as of yet. The Lionsgate-owned Debmar-Mercury’s syndicated The Wendy Williams Show, which continues to pull in strong ratings, so far is scheduled to run through the 2016-17 television season. However, with a “personal services” contract just entered into between Debmar-Mercury and Williams, it’s a good bet that the one-hour talk show will also continue also for another seven years. The syndicated talk show is taped live in New York.
Debmar-Mercury Co-Presidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein, producer & distributor of The Wendy Williams Show told Deadline in a statement that they were thrilled with her decision to renew: “Wendy has become a major force in daytime talk and we are thrilled to know she will be dishing out her daily dose of hot topics and entertaining conversations on ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ for many years to come. The incredibly strong ratings she has built over the past six years are a lasting testament to her abilities and staying power in an incredibly competitive environment.”
