The Strain will end after Season 5, it has been confirmed.
Speaking at the TCA, exec producer Carlton Cuse restated that the FX horror series (which as just been renewed for Season 3) is a five-season story and wont continue into Season 6, or spinoff like The Walking Dead and so many others profitable series.
Assuming the show continues to air one season a year (and is renewed for two further seasons), The Strain will end in 2018.

The problem with the Strain is the same thing that has been happening to all show that turn out to be decent is the fact that they (the producers and execs.) make us(the public)wait a whole year to see the next part of the story in which time we (the audience ) either loose interest or just forget where the story left off . Then when we do get to see the continued story we get to see 20 minutes of show followed by 40 minutes of commercials , in which we begin to ask ourselves why the heck out we putting up with this even if the original story line was good or interesting it becomes like finger nails on a chalk board . At which point it is only at this point morbid curiosity that drives to continue watching . I understand like everyone else that you(the company ) have to have sponsors and make money but within reason ,making money over the long hall makes more sense than the quick buck. Well after all it is just a t.v. show oh well and we are just smart enough to wait and watch it on demand a day or so later. After all the public makes the decisions in the end weather you accept it or not.
