I feel this is a great TV Show. If they give it half a chance it will be very successful. I hope they aren’t stupid enough to cancel this awesome show.
anna says
I hope it is renewed
The critics can shut it because it’s great
It is not the same as the books but it’s entertaining and the producers didn’t ruin the story as it almost always happens with series or movies inspirated from books, lord of the rings beeing an exception to the rule
I am sick and tired of them beating the same stories to death, this is original and they should absolutly give it a chance to grow

I’m a Terry Brooks fan, I love the Shannara series, but this.. this not only doesn’t do the writer any justice at all or the story line, characters, etc, but it feels just like a 3rd rate sitcom with magic. It fails to reach the levels of even Teen Wolf, or Charmed, or Smallville, or any of the other shows out there that use supernatural or superpowered fun in their episodes. I’m astounded anyone is following it at all.

I really hope they bring back poppy . She is awesome and the main reason I watch the show.
Shane says
Hope you guys renew it. Can’t wait for another season!

First… Read the Books (all of them) and think this is a great adaptation of the text. Considering Each book deals with a different generation of characters Amberle Elessedil will probably not be back. She transforms into the Ellcrys… That’s permanent, cut and dry. Engaging touch put on the original series as well as a great cast. Big fan of Manu Bennett and he is the guaranteed return actor as he ties the books together as a mentor to the Main Characters until his death. There has been way too many bad adaptations of great books (Legend of the Seeker… started great ended in flames) MTV get on with the second season already… Were waiting!

This show is made for teen queen viewers and has little resemblance to the books that debuted in the 1970’s. Terry Brooks should be embarrased to even put his stamp on the show. Ridiculas.

Exactly! Terry Brooks is a COMPLETE SELLOUT!!! This little show was NOT ‘of Shanarra’… it was a fiendish display of a creator getting so decrepit and greedy that he decided to squeeze as many sheckles as he could out of his past creative works… by completely RAPING them! This show takes a dump on the faces of any true shanarra fan out there! Apalling… just appalling how Brooks sold out… but I guess I knew this was coming one day… you see I noticed many years ago that Brooks was cutting content from his books in order to stretch the series out – the books got shorter, but more expensive… so a story that could be told in one book, was 3 books… or more… He should be ashamed, but I doubt he is…

Ive read all the books and although it isnt exactly as the books, it is a great show… very creative in its design.. Some people are just stuck on the books and will not accept anything else.. but a series is rarely the same as the books and this series is very entertaining. I got members of my family to watch it even though they were busy watching others.. Now everyone of them say: its their favorite show on the air even though it came on kinda late for viewers.. So please continue this series we cant wait! Im gonna purchase series two as soon as it comes out.. Lets do this!

People who were waiting for a page by page adaptation were sure to be disappointed. they actually mixed elements of the first 3 books together to create this mini-series. But really if you wanted a Shannara series, one the runs awhile, or a film franchise, you build it off the Heritage series. Those 4 books were among his best (the Elfstones may be the best stand alone novel.) Plenty of star characters in Walker, Par, Coll, Wren and Morgan. A diabolical villain in Rimmer Dal and his shadowen, and plenty of story variety. Only real problem I had with this show was the special effects budget was obviously small. The effects for the elf-stones were awful and the reaper was unnecessarily buffed up. His menace was that he was a shadowy unstoppable hunter. They turned him into a darkspawn from Dragon Age and that was a mistake. Otherwise the show was enjoyable.

Just love anything that is part of the ‘Fantasy’ genre. I agree with what is said about only loosely following the books but is that so bad – Just look at ‘The Game of Thrones’ TV series – G R R had a lot of input into how his books were portrayed and this has led to the great success of the programme with season after season being renewed – but how will it fare now that the tv series has caught up with the books? I’m sure it will still continue to be the massive hit that it has become.
I actually thought that ‘Legend of the Seeker’ got better as it moved on, although it did seem to reach a conclusion rather rapidly. There was plenty in the books to continue the story on screen.
Shannara is great TV Fantasy viewing with plenty of story line to go at from the books written. I would love to see it continue on screen.
The good thing, I am sure, is that there must be many people, out there, that have been inspired to buy the books after they have watched the TV Programmes and realised that reading stories in text is far better than just watching and being spoon fed a story on the Telly or big screen. It is so good when books allow your own imagination to work.
But there IS a need for ‘Fantasy’ stories to be portrayed on the screen so that appetites are whet.

Please renew the show its really good!!
