The Halcyon ended its first season with a cliffhanger tonight on ITV, but will the wartime drama return for Season/Series 2? While the show’s future is up in the air, actress Kara Tointon has challenged the renewal gods, claiming the story has only just begun, per RadioTimes:
“I feel like these characters fitted like gloves, and I feel that we’ve only just scratched the surface of where they could go. I’m really hoping for it because it was a fantastic job to be a part of and I really enjoyed it. So I hope so, yeah.
On whether her seemingly killed-off character, Betsey, will live to see another day in a potential second season:
“My fingers are crossed that Betsey survives. Because even if they do do another series, it’s not definite that I’ll be there! So I’ve got two lots of fingers crossed on both hands.”
They haven’t told me. It’s all up in the air really,. We shall see. It’s all left on a bit of an edge. I’m completely in the dark on it.”
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the cancel/renew status of The Halcyon Series 2…

Insanity. Find a really good series enjoyed by millions and then cancel, the second series. ITV have renewed some right royal rubbish so so why cancel something good?
I give up!

I completely agree with Christine. Those in charge at ITV seem to have no idea of what their viewers want. First of all they cancel Home Fires and now this; they move News at Ten to make way for The Nightly Show which by all accounts leaves much to be desired and is not attracting viewers (I’ve never seen it and I don’t know anyone who has either); that of cause won’t be taken off.
