The Great British Bake Off is safe for this summer’s seventh series, but its future beyond that has been thrown into doubt with money a sticking point in the negotiations for Series 8, per Broadcast.
While all parties are reportedly optimistic for GBBO Series 8, producers Love Productions want a larger budget for the successful series.
The outlet notes that rival broadcasters ITV and Channel 4 could be set to swoop for the series, if discussions between the BBC and the production company go pear-shaped.
If GBBO did move to a rival channel, it wouldn’t air until summer 2017 at the earliest, as the BBC has a clause in its contract preventing the show from airing elsewhere for a year.
