LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – Feb. 7, 2016 – CBS today announced the series finale of THE GOOD WIFE in dramatic fashion with a special promotional spot broadcast during Super Bowl 50 touting the show’s final nine episodes. The series finale of broadcast television’s most acclaimed drama will air Sunday, May 8 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT).
“It’s never easy to say goodbye to one of the crown jewels of your network and studio, much less to a show that is among the best on television,” said Glenn Geller, President, CBS Entertainment and David Stapf, President, CBS Television Studios. “But it also feels very right to end with the seven-year story its creators envisioned, and to celebrate the show’s final run while at the top of its creative game. It has been CBS’s sincere privilege to broadcast and produce THE GOOD WIFE for seven extraordinary seasons. We thank and applaud the outstanding cast, led by the impeccable Julianna Margulies, and the consummate writing and producing team, headed by the brilliant Robert and Michelle King, who brought to life a smart, sophisticated series that has delivered audiences so many memorable characters and unforgettable moments. It is a series that will only grow in prestige as its episodes are watched again or discovered by new viewers for many years to come.”
“THE GOOD WIFE has been the creative experience of a lifetime,” said executive producers and co-creators Robert and Michelle King. “Collaborating with the finest actors, writers, producers, staff and crew on ‘The Education of Alicia Florrick’ has been a dream. We can’t imagine working with a more talented, professional, generous lead than Julianna Margulies or more supportive partners than Leslie Moonves, David Stapf, Glenn Geller and Nina Tassler at CBS and CBS Television Studios. We’re looking forward to using this seventh season to bring Alicia’s story to its natural conclusion. We couldn’t be more excited and grateful.”
“Being a part of THE GOOD WIFE has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” said series star Julianna Margulies. “As an actress and a producer, it has been an absolute honor to be a part of a series that, throughout seven years, never settled on being just good… but always strived to be extraordinary. I have witnessed magic happen when Robert and Michelle King put pen to paper, and it has been a privilege to be in the company of their brilliance. To the most amazing and talented cast and crew, there will always be a special place in my heart for our ‘Good Wife’ family. As we close the book on our beloved show, I am humbled and grateful to know that together, we created and were a part of something truly remarkable.”
Since THE GOOD WIFE debuted Sunday, Sept. 22, 2009, it has been one of the most acclaimed shows on television. Really sorry to hear that The Good Wife is being cancelled. It is one of the best shows on TV, which now, has become a sad, unintelligent, waste of time.

WTF?! I am totally stunned! It never even crossed my mind for a second this show would get cancelled any time soon, I imagined many more seasons. I have no words. I’m devastated.
Linda Eck says
I’m surprised to hear the sad news about “The Good Wife “getting axed. It seems the show hadn’t boxed itself in like so many others, that no where to take the story line. This
Drama had not outlived it’s possible avenues to explore. Totally disappointed!
Judi Kemp says
This is unbelieveable. How can so many other trashy programs continue to be broadcast and one of the best ever is being canceled. Is there any reason for this shocking cancellation?
K.K. says
I finally gave up on the show this year for only ONE REASON, Sporting events running late made me lose interest. I really enjoyed the show, but in order to watch it, I’d be up later than I wanted to view it. I wished they gave it another day where Golf and Football wouldn’t interfere.
Deb says
Please don’t cancel one of the smartest and BEST shows on TV!!! Stop putting on all the trashy stuff and keep shows like this on!!
Please let another network pick it up!!!

CBS is becoming a garbage network. Good Wife was the only enjoyable show. I got bored with all the ncis spin offs and criminal minds has just turned into a train wreck with nothing but filler episodes and silly character drama. Good wife had an excellent story however and they didn’t recycle old ideas and dress them up to make them look original. The series exploration of the urban political system and the growing business industry in law was fascinating. Now it’s cancelled and somehow all these spin off shows are being produced. CBS is turning into a money making network aimed at tweens and teens. Honestly though I don’t think it’s going to go very well for them.

They are cancelling all the good shows and keeping crap like the Kardashians and all the other “reality” swill of prime time TV going. Almost time to get rid of DISH and only pay for what WE want to watch.
Barbara says
This has been one of the best seasons and to hear that you have cancelled it…. !?
Ok, if this is how you feel about your loyal watchers, message delivered. All I hear on your shows anymore is that I should go to your website and pay to watch your repeats anytime I want. Repeats of what? All you are leaving is the same old crap spin offs of NCIS, Criminal Minds and the like. You do not respect your viewer and we would never pay for what is left on your channel. Hurry and cancel Blue Bloods and don’t forget Madam Secretary, those are also excellent so you morons will probably axe them too. Incredible stupidity! Now Big Brother, that is the mentality level of your channel, high standards and intelligence…………..good luck!
