UPDATE: Taxi Brooklyn officially cancelled after one season. Original story continues below.
—
Taxi Brooklyn could be left in cancellation limbo for eternity, according to showrunner Gary Scott Thompson, who has all but confirmed that the show will end after one season.
Not only is Thompson resigned to Taxi Brooklyn not coming back for Season 2, he’s not placing much faith in NBC confirming the cancellation:
“If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word [about Taxi Brooklyn‘s cancellation].

Taxi Brooklyn wouldn’t be the first or last TV show that was left in cancellation limbo – and unlike, say, 24, it’s not a high-profile franchise nor do NBC seem actively engaged in bringing it back.
If the taxi cab window was closing last November, it’s all but shut now.
RIP?…
Stay tuned for any potential updates on the status of Taxi Brooklyn Season 2…

This is a really short-sighted, poorly thought out, stupid decision – no wonder nobody watches NBC anymore.
Mary says
This was a really good show. Another one bites the dust prematurely and incorrectly.
Donna says
I was really getting into this show and NBC dropped the ball again. Yet one more reason not to watch NBC.
James says
I’m with ya there Donna. This is ridiculous. They’ve canceled quite a few shows that I’ve watched. And they have always ended with a huge cliff hanger.

I read on a french website that TF1 ordered 14 episodes for season 2 of Taxi Brooklyn.
TheVictor says
Which site? I was searching for info in French, but I couldn’t find anything about TF1 renewing the show. In fact, most of the French sites I looked at seem to say low ratings make renewal unlikely.

Come on! Taxi Brooklyn is a great show. We enjoyed and looked forward to watching it every week. NBC cancel something else. It isn’t like you don’t have any others to chose from.
Kbirmingham says
Bring it back please
Shaun Firth says
Unfortunately it’s unlikely that the show would continue production even if foreign markets were interested in a second season. Without an American broadcaster it’s very hard to sell to enough markets to make a show profitable. Yes, there are certainly shows made in other countries that do quite well without Americans ever seeing them. But those shows are generally much less expensive to make, and get a lot of support from tax breaks like we have in Canada. Unfortunately most of the best shows aren’t on so called “free” tv like NBC anymore. The big broadcasters just aren’t willing to gamble with their dollars like the cable networks are. In the case of Taxi Brooklyn this is also complicated because NBC hasn’t “officially” cancelled it. Until they do, the producers can’t try to shop it anywhere else. Likely that’s one of the reasons that they haven’t. They don’t want the embarassment if another network promotes the show successfully.
James says
I’m really starting to dislike NBC. The season ends with a huge cliff hanger, and then they cancel it. So now you will never know what happens. It’s happened on quite a few of their shows. I’m at the point, where I’m not going to watch anything on NBC anymore. This is ridiculous.

I’m getting very tired of good shows like Taxi Brooklyn getting the boot, when stinkos such as Extant are given another season. And you wonder why people are pulling the plug and watching subscription services like Netflix, instead.
VIOLET says
NO MORE NBC FOR ME IN FACT I DON’T WATCH TV ANYMORE JUST FOR THAT REASON. NOW I AM CONSIDERING NETFLIX TO BE MY NEXT CANCELLATION. I AM TIRED OF ALL THIS
Toby says
i was looking forward to 2nd season of Taxi Brooklyn I bought Netflix just to watch back episodes even got my internet up and running so I could use Netflix. Not fair guys!
Really bad form. Guess I’ll watch Hulu instead. At least they finish what they start.
