CBS has paid lip-service to Supergirl‘s Season 2 renewal odds, but the network has yet to announce an official pickup.
However, speaking at PaleyFest, the series creators expressed optimism that an official Supergirl Season 2 renewal is just a matter of time, as Deadline reports:
The cast and creatives of Supergirl took the stage on Day 3 of PaleyFest to what fans were hoping would be the confirmation of a second season. Well, no luck there, but castmembers did say they were optimist of a renewal after CBS head Les Moonves said he planned on renewing five freshman series. “We’re excited to tell as many stories as the in 75 years of the amazing DC canon will afford us to do — so 75 years, Les Moonves,” co-creator/EP Ali Alder quipped.
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the status of Supergirl Season 2…

I’m not sure which story arc is THE the story arc. Supergirl just lets villains walk away. Supergirl is supposed to be a decisive heroine, not an emotionally confused wreck every week (See Buffy for how a heroine behaves in crunch time). Great premise, but the writing team doesn’t know what to do with the show. Get a new one and things will be all right.
