CMT has cancelled Sun Records after one season. The cabler has decided not to extend the period music drama into Season 2
CMT’s head of development Jayson Dinsmore said of Sun Records‘ demise, per Deadline:
“Originally we had planned for it to be a three-night events, and we morphed the development into a limited-run series. It always was to be a limited-run series. It did extremely well but there are no current plans for additional episodes. We may revisit you never know because it did quite well.”
RIP.

This was a great series with good acting. You say it did well so why would you not continue it? Thankfully, you saved “Nashville” but then turn around & do this. I just don’t get it.
So tired of getting into a good show only to see it canceled by the network!!!

I need to just stop watching tv because the best shows never seem to make it and the crap (ie, I Love Kellie Pickler) keeps getting renewed.
David says
And their statement is crap. Nothing about this show could have been concluded in 3 episodes. They are just making excuses.

I can’t believe it!!! Another good show cancelled and all the bad ones keep getting renewed. PLEASE bring Sun Records back…We still had Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis to watch!!!!! What’s wrong with these networks!!!!!

Dont understand why you cancel a good show like this and renew some stupid no brain series like dallas cowbow cheerleaders. What a joke of a station you are. Glad u renewed nashville but it wasnt as gd as the yrs it was on abc. Sun records was better than this yrs nashville. I hv to pay $10 a month xtra to get this channel. Definately wont be paying xtra in the near future. Tired of the crap they keep and the good shows they get rid of.

In my last comment. Should of read. Dallas cowboy cheerleaders not cowbow. Sorry about that

Don’t understand why this good show was cancelled. My husband and I are 73 years old and loved it. We looked forward each week. In fact it was the only program we watched on CMT. Now we won’t watch that station anymore. I feel it was a huge mistake to cancel this.

I really wish you would give it another shot. I don’t know what you are looking for if this didn’t make it. It seemed like a hit to me and I was excited to finally get a show to look forward to. Oh well back to starz for me.

I loved this show! Why do people cancel the good shows and leave on the boring, stupid ones? It seems they are on season after season. Finally this time some of those are being cancelled! Maybe we should complain about the shows we don’t like, so they will leave the good ones alone!
