CRACKLE RETURNS TO PUERTO RICO FOR PRODUCTION ON SEASON THREE OF ORIGINAL DRAMA SERIES “STARTUP”
Academy Award-Winner Mira Sorvino Joins Cast for Upcoming Season
Pasadena, CA, January 2018 – Crackle, Sony Pictures Television Networks’ free, ad-supported streaming network, today announced that production is underway in Puerto Rico for season three of the 10-episode original drama series “StartUp.” In addition, Academy Award-winning actor Mira Sorvino joins the cast as Rebecca Stroud, a NSA special agent who has come to investigate ArakNet, and will do whatever it takes to have ArakNet partner with the government.
Season one of “StartUp” centered on the world of cryptocurrency. In season two, the focus was on the cost of ambition and we watched as our three unexpected comrades crossed the line in order to get back what was taken from them. In this upcoming season, those same three friends will be fighting it out for power in 10 explosive episodes and will be threatened by what might be the most dangerous criminal organization of all: the U.S. Government.
Returning in season three are series’ stars Adam Brody (“CHiPS,” “The League”), Ron Perlman (Hellboy, “Sons of Anarchy”), Edi Gathegi (“The Blacklist,” “The Blacklist: Redemption”), Otmara Marrero (“Graceland”), and Addison Timlin (“Californication”).
In addition to Mira, the following will also join the new season with recurring roles: Zachary Knighton (“Santa Clarita Diet”) as Tucker, a wildly successful hedge-fund manager who wrestles silently with the guilt of having been handed everything by his father, and entertains the idea giving ArakNet their series B financing to separate himself from the heard; Tyler Labine (“Deadbeat,” Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) as Martin, Tucker’s brother, who is quietly jealous of his older brother’s good looks and status, and tragically overcompensates through partying and womanizing, a lifestyle that eventually lands he and Tucker’s firm in hot water; and Jason Kravits (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”) as Richard “Haggie,” who is crafty but desperately insecure and will attempt to break the cycle of abuse of which Wes lords over him.
Mira Sorvino can next be seen in the hit ABC series “Modern Family” in 2018 and in Audience Network’s series “Condor,” opposite Max Irons and Brendan Fraser. Prior to that, she was seen in Adam Marino’s Beneath the Leaves and also played pivotal roles in the drama series “Intruders” for BBC America, as well as arcs on the series “Stalker” and “Falling Skies.”
She won an Academy Award(R), Golden Globe and several additional honors for her performance in Woody Allen’s Mighty Aphrodite. Her other credits include Trade of Innocents, Union Square, Human Trafficking, Reservation Road, Quiz Show, Summer of Sam, Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion and Norma Jean and Marilyn. She is a Harvard graduate and an official ambassador for the United Nations on Human Trafficking. In that role, she has traveled the world on behalf of the UN and testified to Congress on human trafficking and atrocities occurring around the world from Mexico to Darfur to here in the United States.
“StartUp” is produced by Critical Content and Hollywood Gang Productions. Gianni Nunnari, Shannon Gaulding, Tom Forman, Andrew Marcus, Ray Ricord, and Anne Clements (“The Oath”) all serve as executive producers. The series is created and written by Ben Ketai (“Chosen,” THE FOREST) who also serves as executive producer and director. Adam Brody, Ron Perlman and Edi Gathegi serve as producers.
Will StartUp cancel and end with Season 3, or will the series continue into Season 4? Stay tuned for the very latest on the cancel/renew status of StartUp Season 4…
