The 1970s buddy cop series Starsky & Hutch is eyeing a TV return with a reboot shepherded by The Guardians Of the Galaxy franchise writer-director James Gunn. Sony Pictures TV Studios is behind the revival series project, which is currently being pitched to broadcast, cable and streaming networks with multiple interested.

James Gunn will pen the script with his brother, Brian Gunn, and cousin, Mark Gunn. All three will exec produce alongside Sony-based Neal Moritz and his Original Film banner topper Pavun Shetty. The TV reboot is described as a character-driven hourlong procedural.

The original Starsky & Hutch began as a 70-minute movie and went on survive 92 episodes across four seasons from 1975 to 1979.
