Paramount Network (formerly Spike) has cancelled The Shannara Chronicles after two seasons. The fantasy series will not move forward into Season 3.
Speaking to TVGuide, network president Kevin Kay confirmed that The Shannara Chronicles hasn’t made the leap to the rebranded network:
“We have officially passed on making any more. Maybe [Sonar Entertainment] is going to take it somewhere else. For us, we passed on the future of that.”
Per insiders, the low-rated, high-cost Shannara Chronicles is unlikely to resurrect for Season 3 elsewhere, having already moved from its original home MTV to Spike for Season 2.
RIP.

Oh poo – I just binged the first two seasons while I was ill and now this news.
They could at least finish it off with a two hour finale or something….very disappointed now I won`t see the end.

I not happy with this news, this is why I stopped watching Spike and other networks. They keep canceling all the good shows, which is making me mad and I was looking forward to the next season. Finding out where Wil is and how they are going to get them back.

That really stinks! I agree with the other comments. I’m getting so tired of how the networks jerk us around every year, getting us watching, just to bail out. Just when they get you hooked on a series, they pull it. If this show was so expensive to make, why did they even start it. From now on, if you aren’t going to commit to finishing a series, then just don’t bother starting it. It really isn’t fair to your audience. I’ve spent two years watching this show on this channel when I never would have watched it otherwise. Now I don’t have any reason to turn this network on at all. I’ll just have to get the books and read the ending. Your loss.

Honestly, this show should never have been on either of those networks in the first place. The audiences are wildly different. It belonged on a specialty service like Hulu or Netflix. Sad to see it go since the production value was pretty good and the story was decent (a bit young for me, but well catered to the intended audience). I enjoyed it

Too bad a good network didnt make this show. These books are amazing. The TV, not a good representation. I was hoping Spike could have saved it.
