Sense8, Gypsy, Girlboss and The Get Down are all victims of Netflix’s recent cancellation purge, but why?
Netflix chief Ted Sarandos offered an explanation for the streamer’s 2017 axings in this week’s Variety cover story:
“It wasn’t like we were setting out to cancel more shows. It was the idea of saying, ‘Are you being risky enough?’ The bad thing about renewing a show that isn’t being watched, it creates opportunity cost. And a lot of opportunity lost for fans to find something they are going to love.”

I imagine Sens8’s cancellation will disappoint and annoy a lot of people, not only because it’s been running for a long time, but it’s rated 8.4 on IMDb. That’s impressive! What I don’t understand is why you can’t finish it off. According to IMDb, Season 3 was a two hour wrap up of the series in 2018. You’re going to leave people with a cliffhanger, when there were just 2 hours to go? As long as it’s nothing like Lost, all of their questions could have been answered. I’m sorry, but that seems like a low move.

Sense8 is a show that cuts across so many stereotypes, show more of this, not less. The world needs to follow much more closely and come together to solve it’s problems together, before it is to late. Yeah, it is just television, or is it?
