Sabrina landed a 2-season deal at Netflix, but why didn’t the Riverdale spinoff survive at The CW, its original home?
According to THR, the CW dumped Sabrina as it was more interested in another witchy drama, Charmed, which is being redeveloped for the 2018-19 season.
Additionally, the move to Netflix is more viable, as it allows producers Warner Bros. to have 100 percent ownership — and therefore profits — of the series.
With Riverdale closing in on a third season renewal, in no small part to the show’s lucrative Netflix run, Sabrina seems to have handed on her feet.
