Ray Donovan is ditching LA for New York in Season 6, but what fueled the decision? Was it a case of relocation or cancellation, or purely story-driven?
Speaking to TVLine, showrunner David Hollander claims it was largely about keeping the show fresh:
“[I knew about the move ] about a year ago. There were several factors that came into it, and many of them were [about] trying to avoid making the show go totally stale. It forces us to reinvent ourselves.
With Ray Donovan Season 7 also in mind, Hollander suggests the ‘reboot’ will enable the show to continue for a “long time”:
And I think for a show that the network wants to have on the air for a long time and that we want to keep working on, we wanted to stay challenged and not get into a rote place. So we made the decision to consciously change the dynamic and direction of the show.
Are you happy or disappointed with the decision to relocate Ray Donovan to NYC? Just relieved the show was renewed? Wish is was cancelled already?
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the cancel/renew status of Ray Donovan Season 7…
