It’s official: FOX has cancelled Pitch after one season. As expected, the network has opted not to continue the Baseball drama into Season 2.
Co-star Dan Lauria confirmed the news:
Hello Gang, Pitch is officially no more. Fox, in their infinite, but not so wise wisdom, has decided to cancel Pitch. I knew the longer they took the less chance we had but I did have renewed hope when Thursday night football had been canceled. We would have done better without even having a new time slot. Excuse me, I’m being logical.
Pitch, was a great experience, Kevin Falls, Rick Singer and of course Dan Fogelman put together one of the best writing staffs I ever worked with. Our cast was THE most professional I ever worked with, not a headache in the bunch. Our staff and crew, the best. I wish everyone a continued great career. Love each and everyone of those involved with Pitch.
Co-creator Dan Fogelman added:
I was informed today that Pitch won’t be getting a 2nd season on Fox. Obviously we’re all crushed – thank you to our amazing fans..

See the current cancel/renew status of all FOX shows for the 2017-18 season.
RIP.

This was a great show that showed a young female baseball player and her life. Good clean show.

Hate to see this show not get renewed! It was different & very interesting!

Well, I think this cancels my tuning in to watch any more shows on Fox!! Every darn time, I decide I love one of their shows, they’re gone!! Really good shows, too. Seriously, Surviving Jack??? Grandfathered?? Now, Pitch?? Sick of this network constantly removing everything decent without violence!!
Sally Broadhurst says
I loved Pitch. It was different because it should that a woman could work with a major league team and things would work out as everyone got used to a female being on a team. I also liked how they were getting into her backstory and the catcher’s. Would have loved to see more. Any chance for someone like Netflix or Amazon to pick it up? Please?

Most networks don’t give good shows the chance they deserve, but Fox is one of the worst.
so upset about this.
The show was brilliant, the cast was stellar. I honestly adored Pitch, and I was REALLY hoping it would get the second season that it deserved. I loved having MPG on my tv every week and really wanted to see what happened with Lawson, career wise, and to see how his and Ginny’s relationship would pan-out.
I’d like to say I can’t believe Fox cancelled Pitch, but they almost always cancel things they shouldn’t, so it doesn’t come as a surprise to me that they cancelled Pitch…I was just hoping for better.
Thanks for disappointing me once again, Fox, really. ><

There is a reason CBS rules the ratings and FOX is too stupid to see it.

I still hold out hope that PITCH may get picked up by HULU, AMAZON or the like. This was an exceptional series: great scriptwriting, major great cast. I shake my head on the crap that continues on and on tv when shows of this caliber aren’t picked up. And I was just saying that I was so impressed with the local stations’ lineup of shows that I felt no need to subscribe to HBO, STARZ, etc.!! Shame on you FOX!
Ecas says
Loved the show. Another good one cancelled.

No one wants to watch women play sports, so why would anyone want to see this?
