It’s finally official – CBS has confirmed the cancellation of Person Of Interest after its upcoming fifth season. As we’ve reported for months, there wont be a sixth season of the sci-fi thriller.
Executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman also confirmed the cancellation in a statement to IGN:
“We’re extremely excited to be able share this final season with the fans. We’re eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show’s fans — the best fans in the world. This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it’s been our great privilege to work on show for the past five seasons. We can’t wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter.”
Before departing for the cancellation graveyard, POI premieres its fifth and final season May 3, 2016.
RIP.
Stay tuned for updates in the event that Person Of Interest is ever revived for Season 6…

I just started watching and enjoying this series, I guess I should be glad I at least get five seasons of the show. This is why I don’t start a series till it’s got at least 5 seasons because I get sick and tired of the idiots that get you hooked then snatch the show away from you simply because they can. The series ”the Gates” was fantastic and look what they did to the fans.

Another post says that the premiere date is May 3, not 23. Which is correct?
Watcher Of All Good Television Shows says
I will be watching CBS both nights so I don’t miss any of Person Of Interest. Also, be sure to check local TV listings on those dates.
Bronco46 says
This is just a shame. This was one of the good ones.
I wonder if CBS is to blame. Or if one or more of the
actors wanted out.
Watcher Of All Good Television Shows says
The actors got tired of the show and said they wanted to move on to other projects. A story on another web site said there will only be ten episodes in the fifth and final season. I hope the series finale will be a fabulous one! Hopefully, it will take the last two episodes to wrap up the entire series.
Dianne Jenkins says
So is there 1 more season or is it cancelled as of now?
RenewCancelTV says
Dianne, there’s one more season (Season 5) before it heads off to the cancellation graveyard.
POI’s fifth and final season premieres May 3, 2016.

I’ve been waiting for Person of Interest to return. I will be sorry to see it end, but I’m glad it is coming back so that there can be a finale. Thanks ! It will surely be missed.

I’m really sorry to see this show being cancelled. I loved it so much. It was a great cast. How many episodes will their be in the final season?
John McNulty says
Sure hope it’s picked up by another network.. It’s one of the best shows
Ever. Very intelligent storyline.. Always great suspense and surprises.. Really hate to see it end so soon. Glad shaw is coming back!
Cazz says
Massive shame to see the end of this brilliant series. Channel 5 airs it in the UK & the airing it gets sucks! Very late screening, changed schedules, we’re even a season behind – it deserved prime-time channel 5!!!!
ross macleod says
although i am sad that a pearson of interest has been cancelled i dont think it be taken any furher i do hope the last season will wrap the story up with maybe a happy conclusion

Person of Interest, (owned by Warner Brothers), got better ratings in 2015 in the Tues. 10 – 11 time slot, than does Limitless, (owned by CBS) in 2016.
This is similar to CBS renewing the garbage they own that airs after the Big Bang Theory, (i.e. The Millers), and then cancelling them when they move to another time slot, because they are unable to bring in the ratings by themselves.
Person of Interest is worthy of a “after the last minute” renewal similar to Unforgettable a few years ago.
The show won the CBS aired People Choice Award for favorite crime drama TV show.
This stinks and I hope Limitless continues to sink in the ratings as payback for the cancellation of Person of Interest.
One of the best shows on TV gets cancelled because it’s not owned by the network that airs it.
This stinks.
Thanks to everyone in front of, (and behind), the camera, that made Person of Interest a program worth watching. May you all continue to find work in your respective fields of expertise, because talent such as yours should not be wasted.
Boo CBS! Worst decision by the “Eye” network since they bounced Frank’s Place all over the place, and then had the audacity to say it was cancelled because of poor ratings, after the viewer gave up trying to find it.

Who wants to watch a closing show? Its like buying discontinued goods. The last two seasons were unwatchable. They down graded reese to co-star and focused on the lesbian love affair. as a result the ratings tanked. last season it was only on every third week. Hopefully reese will find himself a series as a p.I. or a mercenary like have gun will travel. he actually doesn’t need all the co-stars.

Person Of Interest cancelled…??????!!!!!

I hope CBS be burned to the ground… !!!
Got damn ignorant executives !!!!
Lori Court says
Omg I am sooooo pissed!!!!! Loved, loved, loved this show! It seems every time there’s a great show, it gets cancelled! There isn’t enough great ones as it is!!! Loved the cast and couldn’t wait for Shaw’s return! What the hell!!!
Pat says
Get rid of Amy’s character. Can do without her. Loved rest of the cast. Seems when good shows hit the air stations can’t wait to toss them.
Trees M says
I LOVED this show in the beginning. But when it got all funky it lost its appeal. I’m not surprised that it’s been cancelled.
Lynda Arpin says
CBS as of today me and my family will no longer be watching your station for any show. Your station has been removed from our service ( per my instructions ) as a family we have decided that CBS can “go to HELL” POI was a show that we truly loved to watch. Over the past few years CBS your decisions have left me wondering how this station made it this long. So as a family we the Arpins are CBS free. And to those wondering why we went to this extrem well we will just say that we were tired of being disappointed due to CBS canceling their shows.
PG says
Yeah…they’ll renew brainless drivel like Survivor for the umpteenth season, but good shows like this (and CSI, CSI:NY, etc.) get the axe. Good job, CBS.
lori japack says
Nooo! You renew stupid shows & cancel awesome shows! What’s wrong with you people?
Lori Japack says
I know, right? Doesn’t make sense! I’m soooo angry. This was such a fantastic show.
Sharon K. Harshman says
I just can’t believe you CBS. You will continue to renew shows like the Tonight Show, Survivor, 2 Broke Girls, (cancelling MOLLY AND THE GOOD WIFE), and you wonder why good and loyal fans desert your channel. This is why. You either cancel our good shows with no warning, or they don’t get picked up by you for some *mysterious reason. I myself have about had it as well. I too am considering cancelling your channel with my cable company. I am truly dissatisfied with your service and then you don’t understand why we don’t care when new shows come on and we say we like them, because you know that they won’t last long enough for us to even learn the characters names. BOOOOOOOOOOOO and shame on you CBS, this is one loyal viewer that you won’t have to kick around anymore. Good Luck and Good Riddens.
Linda Pinchin says
What are you playing at, it is a fantastic show with a fantastic cast of actors / actresses. Why take another good series away from us WHY. ?????????????
Pablo Salazar says
they have to cancel a show that’s actually good!!!”””
B Armijo says
Devastated and then you really had to kill John!!’!!!!!!! It’s so hard to find an outstanding show just to see its life come to an end. What were you people thinking????
Another Poster says
For those people who prefer fan made series finales of TV shows to the actual one made, (for example the fan made series finale of How I Met Your Mother that can be found on the internet), there is a very good fan made alternate ending to Person of Interest that can also be found on the internet.
The actual finale of the show was one of the best TV series finales ever made, however, the fan made alternate series finale is also worth watching. It’s only about 5 minutes long, so it will not take too much time to see it.
Person of Interest was an outstanding program with a great many devoted fans and it’s a real shame that CBS did not own the, (CBS aired), People’s Choice Award winner for Favorite Crime Program, and burned it off between May and June 2016.
Bob York says
Limitless AND Person of Interest, CBS you really need to check what people want instead of what you think people want! You definitely need to cancel the contract of whoever made the final decision on these two really great shows (at least myself and more than a few other think so)
