Penny Dreadful appears to have a relatively long future ahead on Showtime.
With a third season renewal still fresh in the bank, the cabler’s president David Nevins gave the show a further boost, saying “I feel like [the show] is just beginning.”
Stay tuned to see whether that translates into a fourth season renewal in the months ahead…
"#PennyDreadful I feel like is just beginning," says Showtime president David Nevins. S3 will be about how they come back together. #TCA15

WTH why is this show over? This was One of the best shows I’ve seen on TV. This show had so much potential, and so much more to offer. I really hope it gets brought back for a 4th season ! Television today is filled with reality TV shows, and a bunch of the same old same old, and penny dreadful was a breath of fresh air, being something different ! I’m a huge fan of horror movies, especially the classics and this show had it all, such a pity if it’s really over !

I agree with Fred, with so many series that appear to have the same storyline, and same predictable endings, this show (like my other favorites such as GOT, X company, and Peaky Blinders) take place in times and places that are not our own. I loved the idea of the writers bringing in characters from fiction and making them part of the story, from Shelly’s Frankenstein, to Oscar Wilde’s Dorian Gray. This idea could have gone on and on. The possibilities are endless. Why Show-time decided to end this series is beyond me. Like so many other executive decisions that have been displayed in the past this is yet another one that completely vexes me, when the viewer ship, and critical acclaim for the series only kept getting better and better.
