“There’s so much more to explore with these characters in this world. The potential is just endless. I’d like to see G’win have her ideology tested. What is something that would push her to her edge? I of course would like to see the relationship with Little develop a bit more and see where that takes us, and the very weird relationship with Big. I’d love to see how that goes as well. And I’d like to see her down in the town, and just see how that would change her world.”
Creator Peter Mattei tells Yahoo that work on Outsiders Season 3 is going ahead, despite not yet locking down a new home:
You know, it’s kind of in the middle of it. We’re working right now on Season 3, breaking stories and everything for Season 3, so we’re in the thick of it, and we’re ready to go. I’m not really ready to give [these characters] up either. I still dream about them, and they’re a big part of my life, so if in fact they aren’t coming back, it’s going to be a big adjustment.
On what Season 3 will bring if Outsiders is resurrected elsewhere:
I guess I would say the story of the family and how this is going to resolve is the thing that I’m most engaged in in terms of thinking about a new season. Where do the Farrells go from here after what happens at the end of Season 2? I feel like I’m really invested in these people and what their fate is.
civil war is one way of looking at it, and another way of looking at it is it’s just anarchy, in the sense that we would begin a new season without them having a real leader. And I think Little Foster has a really good point, which is that the fight over who’s the leader has really created so much division in that family, and that maybe not having a leader at all would be way more beneficial to them in the long run. I think we don’t know, but it’s a question mark that we would explore in the future if we can.
Will Outsiders be one of the lucky few cancelled shows to resurrect on a new network, or is it all wishful thinking? Stay tuned…
