The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore Cancelled By Comedy Central – No Season 3
DEADLINE: Had you gotten indications, did you have any idea this was coming?
WILMORE: No. I knew that a decision was coming, but I didn’t think we wouldn’t be able to cover the election. So whether we were going to be on or not for a third season, I never imagined that we would be off so quickly if we weren’t coming back. So I imagined a scenario where we wouldn’t be picked up, but I had not imagined a scenario where we would just be canceled immediately. So yeah, that part was a surprise.

So you’ve touched on this, but, what are you most proud of to have accomplished with The Nightly Show?
You know, we set out to present to America a lot of faces and voices that don’t get a chance to be seen and heard on television. We gave them a platform and a chance to make their voices heard. We’re very proud of that. And rooting for the underdog, and finding the underdog in stories, and tackling those difficult subjects like you said earlier—and not being afraid to do it.

Beth Martinez says
Very disappointed Nightly Show abruptly cancelled. Loved their unique perspectives and interviews. Larry Wilmore brought a balanced black perspective to tv that had been missing and was informative and inclusive. Too much truth for Comedy Central to handle? Who can I complain to at Comedy Central?? There’s no contact info on their website, so who were they polling?
