Cancelled ABC music drama Nashville is nearing a Season 5 revival at CMT, Deadline reports:
I hear the country music drama is inching closer to a pickup at country music-themed cable network CMT.
Nashville producer sprang into action the moment ABC’s surprising decision to cancel Nashville came on May 12. The series was pitched to streaming services and traditional networks, including Hulu and CMT. Negotiations are still ongoing, and it’s unclear whether a deal would be made, but there is a possibility that a renewal could be announced at tomorrow’s CMT Awards should the talks conclude successfully by then.
CMT’s bid to save Nashville with a fifth season renewal is supported by Variety:
CMT is a seamless home for the country music drama, which is surely seen as a “get” for the Viacom-owned country cabler. While the ratings (1.8 rating in adults 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall in Nielsen’s “live plus-7” estimates) were not strong enough to warrant another season at ABC, those types of numbers are big for CMT.
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the revival status of Nashville Season 5…

Sure, make it happen. At least one cancelled program a year should get a after the last minute save, similar to Unforgettable, and Futurama. Let it be Nashville. Give the fans something to watch if there more good stories to tell, and some network can afford to air it.
