The doors were never open to Mr Selfridge Season 5, according to Jeremy Piven.
Speaking ahead of the fourth and final season, the actor says the period drama was always envisioned as a four season series, per What’s On TV:
Right from the beginning I knew we were going to tell this story in four series, so I knew this was coming. With American series, you never know when it’s going to end but, with this, we always knew there was an endgame and this is it!”
On where the story picks up in its final season:
“It’s 10 years later and Harry’s clearly been through a lot and it’s starting to show – I don’t think they had a lot of anti-ageing cures back in the day. We pick up in the Roaring Twenties but there’s a sense it’s been going on a while – so it’s perhaps more purring than roaring!”
