WGN America has cancelled period drama Manhattan after two seasons – there will not be a Season 3 of the atomic bomb drama despite creative plans to continue.
WGN America president and GM Matt Cherniss dropped the cancellation bomb in a statement:
“After careful consideration, we have reached the very difficult decision not to move forward with a third season of Manhattan. We are proud of this critically acclaimed series, an extraordinary original drama, and are deeply disappointed that such a wonderful show could not find a larger audience.
We thank the immensely talented Sam Shaw and Thomas Schlamme, along with the exceptional cast and crew and our great partners at Lionsgate and Skydance, for crafting a masterful series. We are equally grateful to the dedicated fans for their support over the last two seasons.”
RIP.

I don’t see what the big surprise is here. I assumed when the series achieve their goal of detonating the bomb there wasn’t anything else to do. The show had reached its conclusion, what was left. I do have to say it was a very good show, I enjoyed every episode.

It was supposed to be a 3 part series at 2 seasons per part for 6 seasons total. There was much more story to tell…

The acting was terrific, the story kept my attention, so sorry to see it was cancelled.

Big mistake cancelling Manhattan, are you afraid viewers might actually learn something about history and actually enjoy themselves while watching the series .
