Cancelled by TNT, Major Crimes is building towards its “big-ass series finale,” but creator James Duff has warned fans not to expect full closure.
Speaking to TVLine, Duff admits the final episode leaves an “open door” to a seventh season that will never happen, barring a future revival:
“You’re getting one that is surprising, funny, satisfying…. Since I didn’t actually know for sure it was the [series] finale, there is an open door…. It’s sort of a defiant ending, I would say, but an honest, truthful ending.”
On the process of mapping out what would become the show’s final season:
“I did not know it was the final season; I assumed it was. I didn’t feel like we were beyond the point of no return until Episode 6, and even then I didn’t want to say anything, because its not my job to. Plus, you’re always hoping for a reprieve of some kind. And we didn’t get one.”
The series finale of Major Crimes airs Jan. 16, 2017 on TNT.
Are you looking forward to the end of Major Crimes? Was the show cancelled too soon? Fearing a lack of resolution? Already hoping for a future revival series?

I truly do hope that the show is renewed. My son and I (plus several friends) have watched all these wonderful characters evolve since episode #1 of “The Closer” and we were relieved that, instead of completely cancelling the show, it morphed into “Major Crimes,” with all the same cast.
We love these characters and will happily continue to watch them for as long as the show runs.

I really enjoy this show. I like all of the characters and the stories are always interesting. Considering some of the asinine reality shows that are STILL on TV, I hope that this show sees a 7th, even an 8th season.

It seems to me cable networks are getting just as bad as the major 3 networks. It seems to be the trend to cancel shows regardless of viewership or popularity. Remember shows like the original Hawaii 5 0 or NYPD Blue or Law and Order. Not many shows today enjoy that kind of tenure. They treat shows like they treat people throwing away those not a part of the demographics. Little by little I’m limiting my TV viewing time to HALLMARK (both channels), GSN, and ME TV. It’s a real shame to dump this show before it’s time but you have to consider the source making these decisions.

I agree they jerk the shows off the air and dump a load of shows nobody likes which leaves a stain on the show

I wonder if the door has been left open as I see that Bravo is airing the final season……odd since they’ve not aired previous seasons yet…..here’s hoping!!!

It would be a major crime not to put it in the ladies on this show!
