UPDATE: On November 2, 2016, Netfix renewed Longmire for Season 6, which will also be the last in the series.
In a statement, executive producers Greer Shephard, Hunt Baldwin and John Coveny said of the decision to end Longmire with Season 6:
“We are grateful to Netflix for the opportunity to compose a closing chapter for these beloved characters that inspires lasting memories. Most importantly, we’re committed to delivering a dynamic and satisfying conclusion to our fans that rewards their longtime loyalty."
Cindy Holland, Netflix’s vice president of original content, offered:
“We are proud to be the home of the ‘Longmire’ series, as so many viewers over the last few seasons have watched and been captivated by Walt’s journey. There has been no better team to work with on this show than Greer, Hunt and John, and their tremendous cast and crew, and we have every confidence that they will have a satisfying conclusion to this revered series. We are grateful to them and our friends at Warner Bros, who have been tremendous partners.”

I hope Longmire gets renewed. its a very good show. After the season 5 finale it needs to come back. I’d rather have a lot more seasons, but if they would bring it back for one more to give the fans a good ending. The only thing that needs to be changed is Vic’s feelings for Longmire.

I just finished watching season 6 of Longmire (so excited to find it back) but Netflix is saying this is the last season. If so, why did they leave so many things open ended? They have to bring on another season that really wraps things up. Please Netflix, bring on a real finale. This sucks. Renew it!!!!!!

I agree, this is one of the best shows, I found many people watch it. I would love it to come back another season. So much better then some of the regular channel shows……
