Line of Duty has long been renewed for Series 5, but creator Jed Mercurio is already crossing his toes for a sixth run, while admitting “it’s not my decision in the end,” per RTE:
“It’s the broadcaster and the fans that are still watching the show, but I love making the show. We all love working together. So at the moment, no-one wants to stop making Line of Duty.”
Mercurio says he hopes Series 6 will be officially renewed before production starts on Season 5:
“I’d definitely like to be able to do a sixth series. That means we can approach the fifth series knowing that it’s not going to be the last.”
As for that fifth series, fans have a longer wait as it wont hit screens until spring 2019:
“The plan is we won’t shoot Line of Duty series five until next year and that means it won’t be on air until 2019.”
With no plans to end Line of Duty after Series 5, can the cancellation reaper stop the police drama copping Series 6? Stay tuned…
