Limitless Cancelled – No Season 2 At CBS; Series Shopped Elsewhere

May 18, 2016 by RenewCancelTV 31 Comments

limitless cancelled season 2

One season is apparently the limit. CBS has cancelled Limitless after a single season – there wont be a Season 2 at the eye network.

However, the network says discussions to move the series a new network are ‘complicated’ but ongoing.

CBS won't say #Limitless is canceled (it is), only that it's being shopped elsewhere (no sale yet). #Upfronts2016

— Lacey Rose (@LaceyVRose) May 18, 2016

CBS on #Limitless: "Right now we're in discussions with other potential buyers so I'd rather not comment on that at the moment.”

This really annoys me. If CBS doesn’t want it then it shouldn’t be trying to make money out of it by shopping it around. Why should it be compensated for its own incompetence? Once a network’s withdrawn support shows really ought to be free agents in seeking a new home.

WHY ARE reality game shows not on a REALITY GAME SHOW CHANNEL?????
Doesnt everyone have at least a bare minimum cable/satellite package? include all these stupid game shows(the bachelor, the bachelorettes, dancing with the stars, the idol, America’s got talent, etc) in one channel!!! stop making good shows compete with stupid game shows!!!!!

network TV is run by incompetent idiots!!!

I just don’t get this. Limitless had marginally but consistently better ratings than other shows that were renewed.

    WTF CBS?

Limitless is a great show. Why are you cancelling it? I am really tired of all of the networks wanting 14 MIL viewers a week. Thats unrealistic. Lot of us like quality TV rather than reality tv.

I agree 100%. It seems I get into a show and it is canceled after a season yet shows with lower ratings continue. All networks are guilty of this.

This is not the 70’s or 80’s with just a few networks and where shows like Dallas or Dynasty received huge ratings. Those days are over with so many channels now a days along with alternate types of TV delivery like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon etc..

TV networks/Studios refuse to realise it is 2016 and stuck in the past.

Here is what Les Moonves said on March 8, 2016; “I believe CBS will renew 5 of it’s new shows.” At the time he said it, the new shows were Limitless, Code Black, Life in Pieces, Supergirl, and Angel From Hell.
After that CBS introduced Rush Hour and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.
Since then; Code Black, Life in Pieces and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders renewed on CBS, Supergirl renewed on CW, Limitless being shopped elsewhere, (will not return to CBS), and Angel From Hell and Rush Hour cancelled.
He said he Believed that 5 new shows would be renewed.
Many people understood him to say 5 new programs would be renewed, yet, he clearly left himself an out, to cover himself. I am sure he would have loved to renewed every show, provided it made money for the network, (no one wants to air shows just to cancel them), yet he decided that not all of them were money earners; so some were cancelled, some renewed, and some shopped elsewhere.

Next time Les Moonves gives a press conference people will hopefully understand to read between the lines.

Really??? Do TV companies have no bravado anymore, always going for “safe” things, a lot of them so bad they are embarrassing. I have been a fan from the beginning and always thought this would get another season. I shall truely miss Headquarers, Bruntouchables and all the other cool things about this show. Most of all Brian. Thank you for making me happy.and all the fun times.

Good luck “shopping” this show elsewhere.. it’s THE SAME FORMULAIC cop show that is on almost EVERY network after 9pm week nights… seriously! There’s NOTHING original here, not even the premise (stolen from the film)… and the formula is SO OBVIOUS.. 5 minutes main story – 30-33 minutes of random filler story that really means nothing to the main story – 5 minutes of main story to wrap up the episode. And one NEVER gets ANY resolution tot he main story… so the pilot, which customarily kicks off the main story is NEVER CONCLUDED. It’s a terrible formula that ALL NETWORKS have been using for at least 20 years now. The ONLY thin new about this show is the unique order when listing cast members.. that’s it. The public NEEDS to get junk like this CANCELLED and FORCE writers and tv executives to DO A BETTER JOB!!!! the LAST thing ANY network needs is yet ANOTHER cop drama.

To HA! – So you believe Limitless is just like Law & Order x 2 shows just like it, NCIS x 3 shows just like it, CSI x however many twins it has…….are you kidding? The point of Limitless being just like the movie is it’s a spinoff of the movie. I really didn’t think anyone had to say that out loud but I guess you need help with that. It’s different enough from the standard cop show. Emphasis on “different enough”. It has goofy comedy, it’s lighter, and of course the pills and super smart angle. How is that the same as NCIS, CSI, L&O, etc? Yes, I do agree with you that the major network gurus have their head in their a**es. All they care about is what reality show they want to air next. I am assuming they are super cheap to make. A bunch of idiots in front of several cameras can’t be way too expensive.

Considering the amount of reality dross it’s a shame that a fun show gets cancelled.

Looking the CBS line up they were quick to renew Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders which is ok but sits at the bottom of my watch list. Never sure what the criteria is, whether not enough viewers or simply not liked by someone who has the power to cancel.

Limitless at least, had some unique quirkiness that was endearing.

The one good show that was introduced this season CBS decides to give the axe to. Why they renewed another blood spiller and let a great light hearted show slip through their claws is a complete mystery. Do we really need more blood and guts on the small screen? My contempt for CBS is truly “Limitless”.

I’m very surprised and disappointed about the cancellation of “Limitless”!! I hardly watch any TV anymore, but this was one of the few shows I enjoyed and looked forward to each week. The drama aspect was good, the story was fascinating, the humor was clever, and the casting was spot-on. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the show gets another chance at another network. It really had potential. Pulling the plug after only one season seems premature.

All my best to the show’s cast members!

I love this show and gutted it’s being cancelled. its so disappointing when you invest in the characters and the show only for it to be taken away. the cast were brilliant and there was so much scope for the story to run with. so, so disappointed.
