Law & Order: SVU is already planning for Season 19.
The NBC procedural has announced Rick Eid as the new showrunner for its upcoming 18th season, with the new incumbent signing a two year overall deal that would see him continue at the helm going into Season 19, renewal permitting.
As Variety reports:
Rick Eid has been named the new showrunner of “Law & Order: SVU,” Variety has learned.
Eid will begin his duties with the upcoming 18th season next fall, taking place of showrunner Warren Leight who will exit after the current 17th season.
In addition to being named showrunner on “SVU,” Eid has closed a new overall deal with Universal TV, the studio behind the “Law & Order” franchise, which will keep him as showrunner and exec producer on the series for two years.
