Law & Order: SVU boss Rick Eid is “cautiously optimistic” over a Season 19 renewal, but could that be scuppered by star Mariska Hargitay‘s departure?
Speaking to THR, NBC chief Robert Greenblatt noted that while a contract extention has yet to be agreed with Hargitay, he believes the procedural will return for at least another season:
“We love SVU. I think we have deal issues to go through but I think that’s show back again for another year at least.”
The publication adds:
Much of the show’s future hinges on star Mariska Hargitay, the only remaining original cast member. [..] Signing a new one-year deal with Hargitay would be a large factor in a potential season 19 renewal, but again Greenblatt said the network would follow her lead as far as she how long she envisions remaining on the series.
Will Law & Order: SVU be renewed for Season 19? Would that be the last in the series, or could it level the 20-season threshold held by the original Law & Order and Gunsmoke? Stay tuned…

This is not a problem. The Show has become the SAME old thing, week after week.
And frankly is has become very boring.
In its day, it was a good show. Time to move on!
