Last Tango in Halifax is cancelled on BBC One, however, the door is open for a future revival, the broadcaster has confirmed.
The drama’s cancellation after four seasons was first revealed by star Derek Jacobi:
“We did a Christmas special last Christmas, which we thought was the beginning of another series, but no. She’s written out, she’s writing so many things. She’s a wonderful writer, but she’s got so much work that Tango is finished. It’s very sad, we all loved it.”
While Last Tango In Halifax Season 5 is cancelled, a BBC spokesperson claims the comedy-drama could be unaxed, should series creator Sally Wainwright find time in her schedule, per Digital Spy:
“Sally is presently engaged with another BBC project, but has every intention of revisiting Last Tango when she is able to.”
RIP.

Of all the shows that we are subjected to with violence and smut, you can’t find time to let a wonderful show like this go on. Shame on you! Come on pbs keep the good shows coming. Also why knock off The Vicker of Dibley. So funny!

Folks,
Your latest mailer (https://www.renewcanceltv.com/last-tango-halifax-cancelled-bbc-one-no-season-5/) says “Last Tango In Halifax Cancelled By BBC One – No Season 5”.
However, as far as I have been able to determine (e.g., see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2216156/episodes?ref_=tt_ov_epl ) only TWO episodes of Season 4 were released, with further episodes “delayed.”
Was the rest of Season 4 ever released?
Please advise.
Thank you, Victor Schwartz

Very sad news. I absolutely LOVE LTIH and have watched all episodes multiple times. There’s so much more to be written about the characters. I hope the creator / writer finds time in her schedule to keep the show going, even if it’s just for two-parters now and then, like the Christmas special.
