VICELAND ANNOUNCES NINE SUMMER SERIES
RAPPERS 2 CHAINZ & ACTION BRONSON RETURN ALONGSIDE NEW PROJECTS FROM DIRECTOR X AND PARIS HILTON
Brooklyn, NY (May 23, 2018) – VICELAND is bringing nine series to air this summer with a wide range of diverse talent from returning network staples to newcomers covering everything from food and friendship to internet celebrity, fringe science and skateboarding.
New programs premiering on the network include: Hollywood Love Story, a dive into the world of the wannabe Insta-famous presided over by one of the pioneers of ‘famous-for-being-yourself’ culture: Paris Hilton; Mister Tachyon, the first-ever original television project from prolific music video director and filmmaker Director X, which examines fringe science with a scientist-turned-comic book style hero at its center; and Post Radical, an exploration of the many different subcultures within the world of skateboarding, hosted by pro skater/amateur anthropologist Rick McCrank (VICELAND’s “Abandoned”)
In addition, the summer will see the return of VICELAND regular, rapper/chef Action Bronson, and his signature series F*ck, That’s Delicious and 2 Chainz’s celebration of excess, Most Expensivest, is also back for more. VICELAND third season airing Thrasher Magazine’s epic scavenger hunt/road trip competition King Of The Road returns, a second season inside the minds and work of the best tattoo artists in the world: Tattoo Age, as well as a third season of the craft-brewer talent search Beerland.
ABOUT THE PREMIERES
On July 10 at 8:00 PM– Post Radical marks the return of pro-skater turned documentarian Rick McCrank (“Abandoned”) as he explores the wide variety of subcultures within the skateboarding community. McCrank embeds himself within each of these distinctive groups around the world, from finger boarders and downhill racers to a growing DIY scene in Ethiopia and a skateboard high school in Sweden, and a look at skate culture amid the turmoil in Israel and Palestine.
On, July 11 at 10:00 PM, VICELAND debuts Hollywood Love Story in which Paris Hilton, an Insta-famous celebrity before there was a name for it, introduces tales of wannabe singers, model-actresses, rappers, photographers, designers and DJs trying to make it in modern day Los Angeles. They’ve all got big dreams and backstories and exemplify the current so-called “selfie culture.” Each episode explores the blurred lines between the fantasy and reality of living in Hollywood craving fame and sharing it all on social media, where success and self-worth are measured in likes, follows and reposts.
Also premiering on July 11 at 11:30 PM is Mister Tachyon, the first-ever original television project from Director X, the prolific music video director (Drake, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Usher, Jay-Z, to name a few) and filmmaker (this summer’s “Superfly”). In a radical departure from the traditional science show, the series follows our titular host, a fictional scientist with a comic book style backstory (born invisible due to his scientist father’s experiments) as he searches for a cure through fringe science and his own experiments. Mister Tachyon will try to answer questions often ignored by conventional science — from examining whether the earth’s magnetic field is secretly shaping our lives, to exploring the power of thought to change a person’s biology.
As previously announced, VICELAND’s first co-production with A+E Networks’ History, the documentary series Fighting ISIS will air Sundays at 10:00PM, starting June 3. The show follows a group of veteran and civilian volunteers who travel to Syria and Iraq to fight against ISIS alongside local militias.
ABOUT THE RETURNING SERIES
Beerland’s third season is already underway after premiering May 22.
Returning July 10 at 9:00 PM, King Of The Road bursts back onto the screen with it’s blend of “Jackass” and “The Amazing Race” as we follow Thrasher Magazine’s annual scavenger hunt with a vengeance. Three teams of the world’s best skaters representing Element (featuring one of the biggest names in skateboarding Nyjah Juston), Real, and Foundation Skateboards — go on the road trip of a lifetime. It’s gnarlier and more ridiculous than ever this season as the teams stack tricks, freak out and test the limits of their skills and sanity in the process.
Also returning at 10:00 PM, Grammy winning hip-hop superstar 2 Chainz gets back to the business of excess in the second season of Most Expensivest. Chainz, with his signature blend of swagger and charm, takes viewers on a guided tour of the best of the best from weed and wellness to matchmaking and eco-indulgences. Filmed in the luxurious locales of Miami and Los Angeles, this season will bring more of the absurd and decadent with one question in mind: “Is it worth it? Is it sh*t? Or is it “The Sh*t”?”
On July 10 at 10:30PM, it’s the return of VICELAND staple, rapper-chef-raconteur Action Bronson and his franchise series F*ck, That’s Delicious. Currently in its third season on the channel, the show will turn its focus homeward, where the eating habits of hip-hop’s greatest bon vivant and his tight knit crew of friends and collaborators (Meyhem Lauren, Big Body Bes and The Alchemist) were formed: New York City. Bronson and co. will take in local flavor in their own inimitable style and once again celebrate great food, good friends hometown heroes and local legends in the city they love.
Finally, on July 11 at 10:30PM, Tattoo Age returns to deliver an in-depth look at the state of tattooing today. Through profiles on some of the most important current and most influential artists of the last 50 years, creating a complete tapestry of this ever-evolving, living art form – from shops and styles, to the philosophy behind the art and the business.
