Keeping Faith is back for a third season. BBC Wales and S4C made the announcement:
BBC Cymru Wales and S4C hit drama Keeping Faith/Un Bore Mercher will return for a third and final series, both broadcasters have today confirmed. Fans told to get set for another thrilling series as acting royalty Celia Imrie joins the cast.
Audiences can look forward to another thrilling series with Eve Myles set to return as Faith Howells, Bradley Freegard as Evan Howells and Mark Lewis Jones as Steve Baldini. Olivier award-winning Celia Imrie (Victoria Wood as Seen on TV, Dinnerladies, Best Exotic Marrigold Hotel) will be joining the cast.
Series one and two of Keeping Faith have been hugely successful on BBC iPlayer with over 33 million requests to date, and iPlayer making up almost half of all viewing to the series. The viewing figures of the first and second series of Un Bore Mercher were amongst the highest for S4C drama since 2010.
Keeping Faith/Un Bore Mercher was originally developed by S4C. Produced for BBC Wales and S4C by Vox Pictures, in association with APC and Nevision, with support from Welsh Business Finance. Directed by Pip Broughton and Judith Dine, written by Matthew Hall and Pip Broughton, produced by Pip Broughton and Llyr Morus, filming will begin in 2020. The series is expected to air on S4C in October 2020 and on BBC One Wales February 2021 and will be available across the UK exclusively on BBC iPlayer.
BBC Cymru Wales Head of Commissioning Nick Andrews says: “Keeping Faith is a fantastic show and I’m delighted that it will return for a third series. A record breaker on iPlayer, it has a passionate following of fans and is characteristic of the high quality drama being produced in Wales right now and enjoyed by people across the UK. Looking ahead, the pace of great made-in-Wales telly shows no sign of slowing down.”
Amanda Rees, S4C Director of Content, says: “S4C is thrilled to see the return of Un Bore Mercher in 2020. This pioneering drama is hailed as one of S4C’s Originals, and the award-winning thriller, set in the heart of one of Wales’ most beautiful landscapes, has raised the profile of Welsh drama across the world.”

This is wonderful news. I have watched Season 1 and 2 about 5 times. I had contacted both BBC Wales and Acorn urging them to renew.
The sad news is that this would be the final season. I don’t understand this. This show is wildly popular in the US and UK. If the writers have no more stories to tell, there are other writers. The character of Faith Howells is so compelling and the scenery is breathtaking.
Is it the new ‘norm’, 3 seasons and out? This happened with Hinterland and others. If you have a winner, keep winning. There is so much garbage on tv. This series is a winner, so I suggest several renewals.
