Dr. Jan Pol, the 75-year-old Dutch veterinarian at the center of it all, is a global sensation thanks to his passion, charm and old-school, no-nonsense approach to animal care. He has become a familiar face to many and has been welcomed into families’ homes and hearts through millions of televisions around the world. It all started in 2011 when Dr. Pol’s son, Charles, pitched an idea for a show centered on the life of his father — back when only the people of central Michigan knew his name. Before Dr. Pol knew it, he was a superstar. Season after season, The Incredible Dr. Pol delivers impressive ratings as people tune in to catch America’s favorite vet doing what he does best — wrangling animals, tackling cases and spending time with his wife, Diane, his son, Charles, and the staff at Pol Veterinary Services.
“Dr. Pol is the Dutch gift that keeps on giving,” said Geoff Daniels, executive vice president and general manager of Nat Geo WILD. “There really is no one quite like him on TV with the kind of straight-up honesty and humor that resonate so well with viewers of all ages all over the world. Dr. Pol is a skilled veterinarian, a great family man, a hero to his community and a wonderful ambassador for Nat Geo WILD. We just couldn’t be more thrilled to be hitting this extraordinary milestone and sharing in his success with The Incredible Dr. Pol.”
It’s not just the viewers who have been welcomed into the life and home of Dr. Pol. The special compilation episode will take a look at the dedicated film crew that has spent years alongside the Pols in their busy clinic in rural Michigan. From racing to keep up with him on the roads to spending the holidays together, the crew has been up close and personal with the Pol family for years. We’ll take a look behind the scenes at some of the crew’s most memorable moments.
Nat Geo WILD is also celebrating Dr. Pol’s fans with a special contest to win a trip to Michigan to watch the 100th episode with Dr. Pol himself. This season, fans were encouraged to share what they think makes the show so incredible on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using #DrPolFanContest. Every week, two lucky “Fans of the Week” were chosen to win a trip to Michigan for Dr. Pol’s 100th episode celebration. For more information, visit natgeowild.com/DrPolFanContest.
“I am thankful to the fans who have helped make this show such a great success,” said Dr. Pol. “I got into this business to help animals, and I never imagined that my career would go in this direction. I love what I do, and am happy that I’m able to be a part of the Nat Geo WILD family and share my passion for animals with the world.”

With this release, Nat Geo WILD did not confirm an 11th season renewal for The Incredible Dr. Pol. Could the 100th episode be the very last in the series? Or does the use of “season” (and not “series”) finale suggest an 11th season renewal is around the corner? Stay tuned…

My husband and I watch Dr. Pol always………over other TV. He is the most caring, empathetic person and it shows how he treats animals and humans. Reading over some of things the Dr. is accused of only boils down to jealousy in my book. I would love to see some of the “high class” vets don their boot and coveralls
and tromp through mud and feces to bring new life into this world and at the same time saving the mom….and leaving the farm saying “that was a good day”
Let the “high class” vets go trucking around the Mi. countryside and see how farmers struggle, are grateful for Dr. Pol to be there………..then when they “walk in his shoes, or boots, then they can give their “high class” opinions……………..as for me, as a nurse, I will go with empathy and honesty and years of skill every time.

I cannot support the above comment strongly enough. Those who criticize Dr Pol have not, and probably could not walk a day in his shoes. Especially at his age. If Dr Pol wants to continue his s work and share he s experiences with the National Geographic audience, then more power to him. If not, then I’ll probably tune into a different channel.
