The cancellation reaper has captured Hunters. Syfy has axed the adaptation of Whitley Strieber‘s novel Alien Hunter after one season.
Per THR, the network has decided not to move forward with Hunters Season 2, with the Monday, July 11 season finale now serving as the series ender:
The NBCUniversal-owned cable network has canceled the straight-to-series adaptation of Whitley Strieber’s best-selling novel Alien Hunter, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Hunters bowed to little fanfare in April, drawing 540,000 total viewers and was panned by critics (it has a zero rating on Rotten Tomatoes). Through 12 episodes, it has averaged a dismal 316,000 viewers.

Whoever green lit this stinker should be fired. I watched 1 and a half episodes and felt ashamed I stuck it out that long. Seriously an “alien” show where all they do is “click” and do some (stilted, poorly acted) wire work to make them appear more agile than humans… that’s what is passing for aliens now??? Horrible, horrible, horrible, premise. Man I wish these execs would just give me the money they are wasting on this junk.

The leading actors were the worst garbage I have ever seen on TV. They all were horrible. At least the aborigine Briggs actually tried to play it straight. The rest of them thought they were in Days of Our Lives, and did not seem to realize it was a science fiction/action show.

Saw this coming a mile away when they moved it to midnight airing. What a shame it wasn’t better, I love Julian McMahon !

Well I hate to see it go it took me three episodes but then I liked it after they showed back stories on people, it made much more since. But I recorded four in a row when it started and watched that way, I do all new show’s like that just so I have more than one episode to watch at a time so then I really know if I will like it or not. And hunter’s I did.
