UPDATED:
Netflix has now fired Kevin Spacey from House of Cards as its considers whether or not to continue or cancel the sixth and final season:
Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey.
Producers are exploring several options for getting “House of Cards” back on track in the wake of sexual assault and harassment allegations against star Kevin Spacey.
One scenario being discussed is to kill off Spacey’s character, the villainous Frank Underwood, and have the show’s sixth and final season concentrate on his equally manipulative wife Claire, played by Robin Wright, according to insiders.

As previously reported, Netflix is also plotting a potential spinoff to replace the cancelled political drama.

Claire Underwood has already proven that she is as manipulative, as ruthless and as driven as her husband Frank, so I’m okay with killing Frank off so long as Claire runs for, and takes, the Presidency. We must have her thoughts out loud to the audience though. I, for one, thought that was spot on when she commented when Frank was talking out loud to us. His double take at that was priceless and gave us a big hint at what was to come.

well, the books had the wife using the gofer to kill the main character. inevitable. only snag is that there’s already been a failed attempt on his life in the tv series, so it will jar a bit.
